Khabonina Qubeka Bags Another International Nod For Best Actress

Actress Khabonina Qubeka continues her nominations streak across the world for her lead role in the South African movie, Dora's Peace. The latest nod comes from the continent's biggest film accolades.. the African Movie Academy Awards.

News came from Rwanda this week that Qubeka was announced as a nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Dora in the action packed crime drama, Dora's Peace.

The movie was released in cinemas on 26 August 2016. It also starred some of South African acting veterans like Ronnie Nyakale, Israel Makoe and Hlubi Mboya — nabbing Mboya a South African Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in Film early this year.

Directed by Kostandino Kalarytis,  and written by Andrew Herold along with the director, Kalarytis, the movie has been recognised and selected at two significant International Film Festivals in the United States of America’s Boston and China’s Beijing.

For its leading lady Khabonina Quebeka, the recognition from AMAA 2017 is the second international nod the actress has gotten following her win at the Boston International Film Festival. She was also nominated for Best Actress at the Rapid Lion Awards in South Africa.

Dora's Peace was nominated for four other awards by the African Movie Academy Awards.
